Hiab earns CMMC Level 2 certification in the US, strengthening its position in the defense supply chain
HIAB CORPORATION | TRADE PRESS RELEASE | 8 September 2026 AT 10:00 AM (EEST)
Hiab, a leading provider of smart and sustainable on-road load handling solutions, has achieved the US certification for the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Level 2, following a third-party assessment. The certification places Hiab in a small first group of companies to have reached this standard. The milestone demonstrates Hiab's position as a frontrunner in independently verified information security.
Elite level of cybersecurity
The CMMC Level 2 certification underscores Hiab's high level of cybersecurity readiness. It is a statement that highlights Hiab’s conformation to the cybersecurity requirements set forth in US Government’s NIST SP 800-171 Revision 2 standard.
“The third-party audit evaluated over 100 items across Hiab's defense logistics, R&D and project teams. Our successful completion demonstrates Hiab’s ability to protect sensitive data against advanced cyber threats,“ says Risto Hookana, Cyber Assurance Manager, Hiab.
Powerful market differentiator
The US Department of War requires the CMMC Level 2 certification for all suppliers storing, processing and transmitting Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). Securing the certification serves as a powerful market differentiator for Hiab:
- An early CMMC Level 2 certification provides Hiab a competitive edge in qualifying for US defense contracts requiring secure CUI handling
- The certification provides an advantage when partnering with primary truck OEMs and defense integrators who are inclined to select certified supply chain partners
- Hiab is one of the few companies outside the US to hold this certification, validating its world-class security position to US organisations as well as to other NATO nations.
Commitment to local and global compliance
Compliance and ethical operations are fundamental to Hiab’s success. Following the laws and company policies, Hiab wants to be a good corporate citizen in each jurisdiction it operates in.
Says Frank van Dongen, VP Defence Logistics, Hiab: “Receiving this certification is a direct reflection of Hiab's core operational philosophy. Achieving the US government's cybersecurity standards illustrates how Hiab strictly complies with local legislations and rigorous operational mandates wherever we conduct business activities.”
