Raisio, Finland – Hiab, a leading provider of smart and sustainable on road load handling solutions, is embarking on a major strategic transformation of its MULTILIFT demountables production facility in Raisio, Finland. The expansion will modernise Raisio production and office facilities, creating a more efficient, scalable and future-ready working environment that supports operational excellence, continuous improvement and sustainable long-term growth. It will also reduce energy consumption through energy-efficient solutions and provide a new showroom.

The expansion enables production capacity increase for market leading MULTILIFT demountables, vital for both defence and commercial sectors, and sets a new benchmark for sustainable industrial development.

Building on a EUR 19 million investment announced in May 2025, the project marks an important move toward creating a carbon-neutral production environment.

“It is great that we are now able to start modernising our premises. The new energy-efficient solutions will significantly reduce the factory's energy consumption, and the upcoming modern production and office spaces will improve employee safety, comfort and satisfaction,” says Jussi Peltoniemi, Operations Director, Hiab Raisio.

Sustainability and energy efficiency are at the core of this transformation. The modernisation shifts away from traditional heating methods, embracing a more circular energy approach.

“This is an important investment in both operational efficiency and emissions reduction. The Raisio facility will be moving away from district heating and increasing the use of energy recovered from our own processes, complemented by solar power and battery storage solutions. The project supports Hiab's long-term climate ambitions while creating a more energy-efficient and resilient manufacturing site,” says Johanna Pirinen, Vice President Safety and Sustainability, Hiab.

Hiab has signed an agreement with the construction company NCC for the expansion of the Raisio facility.

“Industrial construction will play an increasingly significant role in NCC's project portfolio. We are pleased to see that our cooperation with Hiab is now leading to a start of the construction phase,” says Esa Lehmusvuori, Head of Department, NCC Western Finland.

The construction phase is expected to be completed during the last quarter of 2027.
